Is permission email marketing in trouble? With the rising concern of Spam Filters/Blockers, Blacklisting, Bounce Backs and CAN-SPAM Act laws, email is sadly becoming a VERY unreliable vehicle to deliver your marketing messages to your customers, Therefore, resulting in “Time Wasted” and “Loss Of Profits”.

Is there a solution to this never ending concern for Permission Email Marketers?

You bet there is.

The are called… “RSS Autoresponders”.

You read right, RSS Autoresponders.

They’ve now taken the newest technology (RSS - Rich Site Summary or Real Simple Syndication) that hit the net and turned it into a permission email marketers dream come true. And… the cool thing about RSS autoresponders is they work much like a traditional email autoresponders, just with a few different features and benefits.

Time is something I value dearly, as I’m sure you do as well, especially when you work so hard on a email to your subscribers, I would think you would want to make sure it reaches them. So… for the rest of this article I’m going to give you the top 10 reasons WHY “RSS Autoresponders” are becoming a permission email marketers BEST friend… and WHY you should seriously consider the switch if your a Permission Email Marketer.

The Internet is changing, so we must change with it. So, with that said, lets get down to business by going to the first and my MOST favorite reason.

Reason #1. 100% delivery rate of your messages. This is probably the single most BIGGEST benefit you’ll receive by using an RSS autoresponder is getting 100% of your marketing messages in front of your prospects and/or existing customers.

Reason #2. Blacklisting is the thing of the past. Never worry about being Blacklisted again because of someone else using your shared server and sending SPAM emails through it and getting you Blacklisted as the end result.

Reason #3. Forget CAN-SPAM and Email Laws. You can now forget about all the email laws and CAN-SPAM because now they no longer apply to you because you are no longer an email publisher, your a RSS publisher. There’s a BIG difference.

Reason #4. Subscribers can Opt-In via web forms or links. This is a critical feature to have with RSS autoresponders because it will allow an easy switch by simply replacing your email web forms with RSS web forms on your website(s). Plus, this will make sure there won’t be any confusion for your potential subscribers with some new Opt-In method.

Reason #5. Personalize your out-going messages. That’s right, you can personalize your out-going messages with custom data fields of your choice, just like a traditional email, giving your marketing message a professional look and giving you more credibility as a professional marketer.

Reason #6. Write freely with all the forbidden email words. Now you have the freedom to write using any word or phrase you wish without the worry of SPAM filters/blockers intercepting your messages and labelling it as “SPAM”, and still have your message achieve 100% delivery rate to your subscribers. Isn’t that great or what?

Reason #7. Unlimited message delivery. Like I said earlier in the article, RSS autoresponders work just like traditional email autoresponders with the same functions. What I’m saying is, you are able to set-up Unlimited timed sequential autoresponder messages that will automatically follow-up your leads for you at your desired time or dates. And, the real cool thing here is, you’ll be able to sleep knowing 100% of your messages are reaching your potential customers.

Reason #8. Broadcast as often as you like. With RSS autoresponders, your also able to broadcast to your subscribers as often as you like with your marketing messages and/or special offers just like traditional email autoresponders. The only difference is, 100% of your marketing messages are reaching your subscribers, meaning, more profits in your pocket.

Reason #9. Many options for managing your subscribers. Just like traditional email autoresponders, RSS autoresponders also give you many different options for managing and editing your subscriber lists. I won’t go into alot of detail on this simply because it basically works the same as an email autoresponder list manager.

Reason #10. Ad tracking and report generation. You can even track who, where, when, what week or month your subscriber subscribed and much more using RSS autoresponders, giving you valuable statistics and information about your subscribers and much more.

I think these 10 reasons I just outlined above are in my mind pretty beneficial to a Permission Email Marketer wouldn’t you think?

In conclusion, I would have to say that the BIGGEST benefit to RSS autoresponders is that they GUARANTEE 100% delivery on your marketing message to your subscribers, saving you valuable time and frustration, and giving you the edge you need in order for you to make the most Profit from your broadcast.

The technology is here, so we must adapt. This concludes the “Top 10 Reasons WHY “RSS Autoresponders” Are Becoming A Permission Email Marketers BEST Friend”.

Got a low budget? Can’t afford expensive advertising? Or do you just want a good way to send targeted, buy happy prospects to your site? Yes? Then you should be writing articles to promote your web page.

Dreaming of getting tons of targeted traffic to your site without spending a red cent? Fantasizing of effective free advertising? Then you should definitely start writing articles for promotion! The things you’ve gotta love about articles are:

A. They are free to submit, allowing thousands of people to read them (and see your web link) without costing you a dime.

B. They prepare a visitor for purchasing your product or service much more effectively than a three line Pay Per Click ad possibly could.

C. They create a ton of inbound links to your website, which in turn boosts your Search Engine ranking (making it easier for people to find your site).

So, whether you have a product to sell, an affiliate product to promote, a newsletter, or just want more truly targeted traffic to your website, writing articles is THE way to go.

Here are the 4 steps to getting NON-STOP traffic using articles:

1. Write an informative, interesting article that your target audience would enjoy reading. Make sure that the subject covered in your article relates to the content on your site or you won’t convert very many sales or opt-ins.

For instance if your website caters to dog owners: DO write an article on the different breeds of dogs or anything else to do with dogs, but DON’T write an article about cats.

2. If you don’t believe you can write a very good article then pay someone else to write it for you. Elance.com is an excellent place to find potential article writers. Someone on Elance will write you a quality article for a low one time fee, and then you just slap your name on it and promote it as your own (this is perfectly legal).

3. The next step is writing the ad that is inserted at the end of your article in the byline, authors bio, about the author, resource box or whatever else it may be called. This little 3 to 5 line ad will entice your readers to visit your site.

EXAMPLE:
Jane Doe is the author of Hot Copywriting Tips, a must have online newsletter for all website owners. Go to http://www.JanesSite.com to grab your FREE copy now.

4. Submit your article to every article site that has a category relevant to your article, and you’re ready to roll.

My favorite article sites are:

www.ideamarketers.com

www.goarticles.com

www.articlecity.com

www.articlesfactory.com

www.buzzle.com

www.ezinearticles.com

www.netterweb.com

www.isnare.com

Now get started promoting your articles. Get them out there fast if you want to set your traffic counter spinning.

One of the first things to do before starting up any business is to investigate the competition. Any business owner knows this is crucial; to determine how to position a business in the market, who to target, what prices to set and who to keep an eye on. The same is true of the internet marketplace.

However, this understanding is rarely transferred when a business decides to ‘go online’. Perhaps the initial setup is so daunting that little thought is spared for anything beyond the layout and content of a website. The internet, however is still a marketplace, and one that is growing exponentially. Those same business skills need to be put to use here too.

If you want to learn from the success of your competitors you first need to think like a search engine. By mimicking popular keywords and phrases you can benefit from traffic that would otherwise be directed to your competitors sites.

Keywords are contained in what are called ‘Meta Tags’. These are tags that are found in the source code at the top of a webpage and include descriptions, titles and key words. Search engines use this information (in addition to content) to rank your page for different search strings. You can access this information by viewing the source of any website, just simply select ‘View’, and ‘Source’ from the toolbar.

If after looking at this code you fear it resembles some alien language, do not despair! There are many programs available that will search competitors’ sites for this information and provide a full report: in plain English. Just look for anything about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), it is one of the new hot topics; and you will be swamped with products. The danger is to believe too much of the hype, don’t pay for promises; search engines are not as easily tricked as we are!

Another key ingredient is links. Your page will be ranked favorably if it is viewed by the search engines as being an authority on a given subject. Links work a bit like votes, if someone links to your site they are effectively ‘casting a vote’ of approval. However the weight of this vote is affected by how many other sites they link to, so beware of ‘link farms’ (pages contained entirely of links) because they will not help improve your site’s positioning. The easiest way to obtain links is through online directories – although people may not visit your site directly through these links, it will help with overall search engine positioning.

Returning to the competition; you can discover who is linking to other sites by using an online link popularity checker. This way you can try and get these sites to link to you also. Remember, directed traffic is the best, so aim for links from sites which contain similar content to yours. If you are a business selling stamps, your best links would be from stamp appreciation pages - obvious really.

The internet has been established for a while now. It is no longer an unknown jungle. As a new business entering this arena you can learn from other people’s successes as well as their mistakes!

Many people will tell you that traffic exchanges are not effective. For some this may be true depending on the service or product you offer. I, however, have had several customers that found my services through my advertising on traffic exchanges. So I am gonna tell you the 3 ways to make this an effective advertising option for you.

First: You need to be sure your home page is effective at explaining what service or product you are offering. Traffic exchanges have a timer so the person viewing your site has the option to leave within a matter of seconds. So your main goal is to give them a reason to stay!!

Second: Only choose traffic exchanges that offer manual surfing. Most people do not even watch the window when an autosurf is running. If it is a manual surf exchange they have to physically watch the pages in order to go to the next site. This gives you the best opportunity for them to actually see your site and be drawn in by your content.

Third: Be prepared to work. In order to earn credits for people to view your site, you have to view other people’s sites. That is why it is called a “Traffic Exchange”. The more you view other sites, the more your site is viewed.

With these 3 steps you can use traffic exchanges as an effective advertising strategy. It takes planning and work to get results, but doesn’t every advertising plan? I urge everyone new to advertising to do lots of research to find the plan that is best for you and your business.

Do you need more targeted traffic to your website? Are you constrained by a limited budget? Here are three innovative ways to dramatically increase the number of visitors you receive.

1. Write Articles. We all know that the major search engines rank websites more highly if there are a lot of links pointing back to that particular web site. The search engines assume that the more links which point to you, the more important and relevant your site is.

Getting other sites to link to you can be a major chore, and you want to avoid free for all link farms, so what to do? A lot of webmasters have begun to write articles which they allow other webmasters to freely display on their sites, so long as they provide a link back to the authors website. If you list your article in the major free content article directories, you can easily build up 500 to 5000 links back to your website. This boosts your PR rank, making you easier to find in the search engines, and you’ll also get traffic from people who read your article and click on the link.

2. Banner exchanges. Banner exchanges can provide a steady stream of visitors if used correctly. Most banner exchanges work like this - you display their banners on your website, and upload a banner of your own. For every 2 times you show an exchange banner, they’ll show your banner once on another exchange member’s site. Banner exchanges have been around a long time, but they still work.

3. Traffic Exchanges. Unlike banner exchanges, traffic exchanges are a fairly new idea. The basic premise is that a large group of website owners agree to visit each other’s websites. for each member site you visit, another member will visit your site.

Some exchanges, like www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?412437 will give you multiple credits for each site you visit, and credits for each person you refer. It’s possible to get thousands of new visitors each day.

Summary: There are many ways to get new traffic to your website. The three methods I outlined here are absolutely free.

After all we are human beings and our target market is full of human beings. Why do we trust what our friends and relatives are doing and follow suit? Since all human beings have the tendency to act as those around them, why not use the same influence when it comes to internet marketing? We are all vulnerable to this powerful influencing mechanism, termed “Social Proof”

Everybody’s doing it then I can do it too. This is the mentality that many of us have when it comes to making a choice in our life. Why do we do this? We do this because we all like to make the right decision when it comes to spending or making a lifelong commitment. If ten other people make the decision to purchase purple kittens then you believe it is socially acceptable for you to purchase a purple kitten as well. This is social proof and it is a powerful marketing tool.

If you manage to convince a potential customer of yours that there are hundreds of people lined up to buy your product then it would be fairly easy for you to convince that potential customer to purchase your product. They believe you because they believe that many other people have either purchased your product or is about to purchase it. You just earned their trust by letting your potential customer know of what others think of your product.

Here are few ways that you can utilize this:

Have a traditional testimonial section for your product. In this section you may want to post few comments and feedbacks you have received for your product. This has been around for a long time but this does not really hit a home run when it comes to marketing. People are used to this so you will have to make that extra step.

Have some other site do a case study on your product. Give free samples to some people and have them do a case study. Take the case study and post it with your product. This tells your potential customer what experience others had with your product and what the recommend. This is good if you get a case study done by a credible source.

Create a sense of “hype” or “urgency” for your product before and after the launch. Limit the quantity of your product and work on influencing your audience that this product is so huge and it will be sold out within days of launch. Let them know how many people are waiting to take a peek at it and how many wants to buy it from you. This influences them to make a choice to purchase your product because everybody around them seems to like it too.

The more people you engage to believe in your particular product then more acceptable your product becomes. There are many ways in which you can utilize the power of social proof.

Have the right product and use social proof with the right motives, then this can be a powerful marketing tool for you. If you like to read further on social proof or human influences, I would recommend reading “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” by Robert Cialdini.

After a few months of advertising my online business opportunities’ website, I have learned a valuable, but true advertising fact. The best way to advertise an affiliate program is through writing articles and submitting them to syndicated sites for others to use, thereby creating links to your own website.

If you are new to website promotion, you may need to know how this works. First, you need to read, and then you write about what you have learned. I have found that there is definitely no shortage of information on the web. Take the information and put into your own words, your thoughts and feelings regarding what you have learned through your reading, and experiences and knowledge of your own. Sit down and write from 350 to 700 words about what you think or have learned in this process. When submitting them to article publishing sites for approval, make sure to add your website links in the author’s note, to link your website to other websites. Then when other website owners need valuable content to post on their website, you have gained the opportunity to put your link on someone else’s website. They go to the article publishing sites to find good content, and if they like yours, you get a free link. Easy, and free.

You can join a power linking forum and get a complete list of article syndication sites to submit your articles to, or do a search of your own. You then can either submit your articles manually, or pay an article submission site to submit them for you for approval. Since I want mine free, and have the time, I do my own submissions manually. Please take the time to correct grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure before submitting your articles, and be sure to read each sites rules for submission to insure your articles are considered for publishing. Some of them have some strict rules and guidelines, especially regarding where your links can be placed in the article. Most will only allow links in the author’s note box.

The next thing you need to do is set up a blog. This, too, is free and lots of fun! There, you can even post your very own personal journal. I have chosen to make mine about online business promotion, and post only articles about online businesses. Do a search for free blogs to find the one that is right for you. Post your articles on your blog. It’s easy and fun to do, with copying and pasting from a word document. You can also post your photos on your blog. To build your traffic, make sure you include a link to your main website near the top of your blog. The more content your blog has, the better the search engines love you.

If you need more content than you can possibly write in the beginning, you can use articles others have written on the subject you are creating for your blog. Article publishing sites are full of good quality articles on just about any subject you may want to choose. But you must always include the author’s note at the bottom, to give the author credit and the opportunity to have his or her link displayed on your site. After you have given your blog valuable content, you need to “ping” your blogsite, so search engine spiders will find you. This helps to build your traffic to your blog. Then due to your link on your blog to your main webpage site, you increase your main website traffic. I use “Ping-O-Matic” for mine. It gets submitted to many different sites at once, and very simple to do.

Next, you can link your blog to other blogs by joining a bloglinking site. You get lots of free traffic, and other bloggers leave comments on your blogspot, leaving a link, and you can link on their blogs the same way. Free, Free, Free Traffic!

E-courses are excellent sales tools and a great way to get your knowledge out there. It is very simple to create your course and either sell, or give it away as a give-before-you-get sales technique. If your course is designed to be a freebie, you’ll want to give a portion of good information; but don’t tell them everything or they will have no reason to make a purchase.

If you are selling your course, make sure to jam pack it with everything you know, that way your customer will feel like they are getting a lot for their money (depending on how much you really know.)

E-courses are simple to create because there is no need for fancy formatting, heading tags or conversions. E-courses are made in the same fashion as e-zines; by using plain text.

For a sample of my 7-day mini course, send an e-mail to: minicourse@aweber.com. You will receive the first portion of the course in just a few minutes, and then for the next 7 days you will get an email with a new section attached.

AOL USERS BEWARE: The only complaints I have ever received about the course not being delivered were from AOL members.

Heres a quick check list for creating your course:

Pick your topic of expertise.

Divide your material into specific sections. These topics will be your lessons. I advise starting out with a day-by-day course rather than splitting your material into weeks.

Write an introduction to the course and a list describing upcoming lessons.

If this is a free course: make sure to weave subtle hints throughout about all of the information that they are not receiving to give them incentive to purchase something (anything!)

Once you have written your course, set up an account with a sequential auto-responder company. Every company will have different instructions for set up, but basically you will be cutting and pasting and they will deliver the e-mails/lessons at the appropriate time.

Promote and advertise your course on your website and send out a notice to your distribution list: let people know about it any way you can.

Anyone who is any sort of internet business knows that profits are the most important thing to attain. The key to gaining more profits is through website promotion. With the right website promotion, you can be sure to gain mass profits that you would not have had without it. If you are interested in learning how to gain more profits this way, please read on for some tips.

The first part of gaining profits through website promotion is to have an excellent website design. You cannot expect to gain any profits through a website that is designed poorly or that is difficult to navigate. Make it easy for visitors to your website to find what they need and make a purchase. This will gain you fast profits.

The second thing you should do to gain profits is to use search engine optimization, or SEO. SEO has been widely used to put people’s websites at the top of a search engine’s list. It is found that most people that use a search engine only visit the website that is listed at the top of the list. This is why you need to use SEO to help with your website promotion. With the proper SEO, you can attract more visitors to your website. More visitors means more profits for you.

Next, to gain more profits you can use email marketing. Be sure that when you use email marketing to gain profits that you are not using spam. Use an opt in list instead. Have an opt in list posted on your website. An opt in list is when people request to receive email material from your website. It has been shown that opt in lists give a 40% increase in response. This means that you will again have more profits.

In order to gain profits through website promotion, you must be sure that you go after your target audience. Be sure that your website design attracts the type of people that would be interested in your product or service. Also, be sure that your email marketing sends out emails and ezines to people that will actually read it and have an interest in it. If you don’t, you cannot expect to gain profits.

Lastly, you can incorporate the use of affiliate programs to help with your website promotion. Have links to your affiliates on your website. Your affiliates will also do the same. With you and your affiliates working together to promote your website, you will start to see more website traffic and more profits.

Website promotion is the only sure way to gain profits for your business. Without it, you can easily find yourself in a hole that is hard to dig your way out of. Be sure to utilize all of these methods so that you can attain more profits.

Placing Google adsense ads on your website has to be one of the easiest ways to generate income with your site. Sign up is free and all you have to do is put the ads on your site.

But easy does not always mean simple.

Google makes it easy to sign up, generate an ad and put it on your site, however, it’s not always so simple designing your site for interest, finding high paying keywords and placing your ads so that they attract maximum clicks.

Here are a few surefire tips that will help draw interest to your site and your ads while helping you get the clicks that will make you money.

1. Build content rich sites

Content rich sites do several things for you. They keep viewers on your site because you are providing information of interest. It’s also important to keep the information refreshed periodically with up-to-date and current content. This is not only useful for your viewers, the search engines like it as well.

Sites containing useful content will also help establish you as an expert in your field allowing viewers to respect your opinions and suggestions. But most importantly, good content will keep your viewers coming back to your site. They will bookmark your site more often and notify their friends a lot more.

2. Research and use higher paying keywords.

Develop site pages using topics that contain high paying keywords while keeping the keywords relevant to your topic.

The Overture website has a free ‘keywords bid tool’ that is excellent for showing you what advertisers are paying for keywords.

For example, using this tool I can see that the keyword ‘pet medication’ has a maximum bid of $1.51 while the keyword ‘pet name’ has a maximum bid of $.11. If I were looking for informational pages to add to my pet site, the clear choice here would be to develop a page about pet medications and optimize that page for the keyword ‘pet medication’.

3. Place your ads in the upper left hand quarter of your website.

Studies show that people almost always scan your site from the top left working down. Placing a vertical skyscraper ad in that section can help increase your click through rate from 2% to as much as 30% or higher.

4. Don’t use horizontal banners or ads.

Google recommends that you use vertical as opposed to horizontal ads. Web surfers see lots of horizontal banners and ads and they almost instantaneously avoid them.

According to Google, wider ad formats such as the large rectangle and inline rectangle also tend to perform quite well. This is probably due to the fact that they are more reader friendly allowing you to read more text at a glance without having to skip a line and return to the left margin every few words.

My experience is that positioning these ads just before or just after your main content can increase your clickthrough rate substantially.

5. Avoid the Dead Zones

Google research has shown that there are zones within your site that won’t generate clicks. These areas are the top right of your site, the bottom right-hand corner and the very bottom. Ads in these areas are often ignored. Keep your ads to the upper left and center or just above or below your primary content.

6. Coordinate the ad colors to match your site colors.

Google adsense offers an array of colors that you can use to display your ads. Choose the two main colors of your site and use those colors for your ad. Keep the URL link of the ad in blue since this is the link color that most viewers are used to. The idea is to blend your ads with your site content so as to invite more clicks.

7. Follow the adsense program policies to the letter.

Google keeps a close eye on how their ads are displayed and they will cancel you immediately if you break the rules. Google adsense is an excellent way to bring in some extra revenue so don’t risk losing a good thing.

Most people will lease hosting from a company, just because they find a great deal. They don’t even stop to think of the long term affects of the company’s policies. Believe it or not, your web host has a dramatic involvement in your search engine rank potential.

Let’s say you have a website, and no matter what you do, you just cannot seem to get high search engine rankings. You have performed all of the proper SEO techniques, yet you hardly find your website in a search engine even just by typing in the URL, leave alone keywords. Have you ever stopped to think that your host may have some involvement in it? Well, it is quite possible that your host has you on a server that has had its IP address banned or Blacklisted.

When a hosting company is careless enough to allow its clients to use unethical tactics at search engine optimization, some search engines will ban, block, or blacklist that IP address. One of the most popular reasons that this may happen is the use of certain spam tactics. This may not always be clients fault. Some websites do get attacked by hackers that use that sites email forms for spam However, regardless of whether the hosting client was to blame, or an attacker, the IP is still banned and it may be rough road to recovery.

There are things that can be done to prevent such occurrences. Things like prohibiting some types of email forms, and setting limits on emails that are sent. Things like educating clients on proper techniques, or by providing education for them are good ways to help clients. A good hosting company can stay in touch with its clients through newsletters, and a good support system.

The responsibility lies on the hosting company, and the client. It is up to the hosting company to provide the means and standards, and it is up to the client to abide by them. Finding a good hosting company is a difficult task these days. There are many out there, but knowing which ones will serve you the best is the challenge. Before purchasing from a hosting company, try checking out their support forums. You can learn a lot from their client’s forum posts, as well as see how well the company responds to support requests. If the clients seem to be unhappy, or if there are many complaints, it might be an indication that you should look elsewhere.

Your website is probably intended to be a source of revenue, or just a place for fun and entertainment. In either case, wouldn’t it be nice if people could find it? Don’t hurt your chances of hitting it big in the search engines even before you start. Find a good hosting company and you will at least have a fighting chance.

As a small business owner on the Internet, I started out like many others. I built a website, and then waiting for traffic to come flowing in. Much to my dismay, that never happened. Nobody came to my site, and that meant, nobody bought my product. The problem is that I didn’t do my homework before jumping into the Internet market.

The Internet is a constantly changing environment, and growing every day. My small little website was no match for the competition, and I had to do something to bring more traffic to my site.

I began looking at different marketing techniques. Things like buying ad space on larger websites that had more traffic. I also looked at such things as sponsorships, and even email campaigns. The results of my investigations into Internet marketing were just not in my favor. I was just a small business, and to place ads on large websites is very expensive. Sponsorships were also expensive, and email campaigns showed very little potential, as they are usually thought of as spam and discarded. I had to do something else, and it had to be something that a small business like mine could reasonably afford.

I discovered search engine optimization. It was a means of making changes to my website that would better suit the desires of large search engines. Since it is free for people to find a website in a search engine, and free for me to be there, this seemed to be my best alternative.

I began my research into search engine optimization (SEO), and discovered that I had much to learn. It was going to take some time for me to do everything that I needed to do, but it was certainly better than losing all that I had invested so far.

I started by adjusting my website to fit the known standards of most search engines, and then began a link campaign. I distributed hundreds of free links, as well as purchased a few for a fair price. I wrote articles and newsletters. I even joined SEO discussion forums, and participated in topics about search engine optimization. In the end, my efforts started to pay off. Traffic started to flow in, and I began to get a few sales.

All of this started to make me think. What if there was no such thing as a search engine? Could small businesses like mine even compete with large companies? For most of us, it would be entirely too expensive to even attempt. Big corporations would have far more money to use on advertising, and ?Internet real estate? would be far more expensive, as it would be the only real means of advertising. My conclusion is that search engines sort of level the playing field between small businesses and large companies. They give a small business the ability to have a chance at competing for traffic on the Internet.

Most of us start out with a dislike for search engines. We get discouraged because so many other websites rank higher than ours. However, there is a way for us to compete with those websites, and it means taking a little time in optimizing website content and links for search engines. With a lot of education, and some good SEO techniques, small businesses can compete, and they can bring in traffic.

Everyone is asking the ultimate question, how do I get to have a successful website in this highly competitive age? The answer is simple…

In order to learn how to do it properly, we need to take a look at others who are already doing it, and winning the never ending game of promotion.

Never ending is a bit of an understatement if you consider the vast opportunity you have presented to you through promoting your business online. Millions and millions of people log on every day, but what you don’t consider is that millions more have yet to log on for the very 1st time. If you’ve ever questioned the fact about whether or not there is an opportunity for yourself online, this small but powerful paragraph should end that doubt.

To make it big online, you have to think big. The internet is no different than real life… what you put forth, so shall you receive. There isn’t any greater statement than that.

So what does it really take to make it big?

Create something bigger than yourself! Bottom line. Creating something bigger could be accomplished in a few different ways. I know there are some of you who are thinking, I don’t have the money to create a massive website! Who ever said you’re “something big” has to be owned by you?

For instance Authors a.k.a Writers / a.k.a Bloggers / a.k.a Columnists are taking the internet by storm and for a good reason… This type of promotion REALLY works.
With the vast amount of websites out there that accept articles, you’re practically guaranteed to create a resourceful website of your own. You don’t need to be the best web designer in the world to figure out how to buy a domain name, create a blog or two (that is programmed by someone else) and link to your articles that way. You can even talk about your products and services within your blog, you have every right.

Go to http://www.blogger.com to create a blog.

That is the easiest way in. Let’s also take a look at why you should have a website and promote it through your knowledge, we can only do this by taking a look at other peoples success. In this next small section, I am going to randomly pick out a couple of authors that consistently write articles and measure out their “visible” level of success.

Halstatt Pires (www.marketingtitan.com): We consistently see this author write articles and submit them to us. Halstatt is a good writer who talks about a wide range of topics including web design & SEO.

If we take a look in Google/Yahoo/MSN to see how many times we can find “Halsatt Pires”, the numbers would look like this…

There are over 45,300 web pages listed within Google with the name “Halsatt Pires”.
There are over 18,500 pages listing in Yahoo
There are over 7,500 pages listed in MSN

Wouldn’t you like to have over 71,300 pages online with your name on them? I certainly would. Even if your articles get read a 10% of the time every day or every month for that matter, it would mean on average over 6,200 people could possibly read your articles every single day.

MarketingTitan.com has an alexa.com ranking of: 171,746 best ranked website out of millions of other websites.

Let’s now take a look at another author.. (all random)

Joy H Gendusa (www.postcardmania.com) Writes a great deal about postcard campaigns, direct mail campaigns and is quite good at it as well.

If we take a look in Google/Yahoo/MSN to see how many times we can find “Joy H Gendusa”, the numbers would look like this…

There are over 13,800 web pages listed within Google with the name “Joy Gendusa”.
There are over 24,000 pages listing in Yahoo
There are over 4,800 pages listed in MSN

In only 3 search engines, “Joy Gendusa” is found 42,600 times!

PostcardMania.com has an alexa.com ranking of: 76,065 best ranked website out of millions of other websites.

Again, it begs the questions, wouldn’t you like it if that was your name at the bottom of those articles with your website right beside it?

You DO NOT have to be a professional writer to start writing. In fact, when I started writing, my grammar was so bad, people would actually call me to guide me through my articles and point out the mistakes within them. The point is, people still called. Now thanks to my editors, my writing skills are improving a great deal.

Don’t be shy. Just start somewhere and don’t stop. Before you know it, you’ll be writing 2-5 articles a week and won’t be able to stop. That is when the true power of your promotion will start kicking in.

Just for people who want to know…

Let’s take a look at my success as a writer. If you were to search for my name within quotations like so “Martin Lemieux”, here are the results you would find. (In quotes to narrow down to an exact match)

There are over 65,600 web pages listed within Google with the name “Martin Lemieux”.
There are over 32,300 pages listing in Yahoo
There are over 17,600 pages listed in MSN

That is over 115,500 “registered pages” online that have my name on them. Just remember as well, I haven’t submitted an article in over 2 months due to illness. Only a fraction of those aren’t me, they are someone else. Again, I ask the question… Wouldn’t it be nice if that was your name and your website was right beside those tens of thousands of pages?

Just for curiosity, if you do a search for Martin Lemieux without the quotes within Google, you will get around 1,040,000 pages found. When I started out, those search results weren’t even close to that, maybe even 10% of 1,040,000 because of “Claude Lemieux” & “Mario Lemieux” two famous hockey players.

Does something like this happen over night? Absolutely not. In the last 4 years, I’ve been able to write around 70-80 articles in total! That’s it. There are writers out there that have personally written over 1000 articles in a matter of years.

What else can you do to increase your popularity? Accept articles from other authors of course! Why not share your success with others. Doing so will only increase your credibility online and increase your visitors a great deal. Not only will authors talk about you, your website will increase every time you list another authors article.

Why do you think that many of the article directories world wide get the most traffic on average beyond the Gorillas like Google, Yahoo, Ebay, etc? They all have one thing in common, they’re creating a community of people writing their hearts out and exposing their business further online.

In Conclusion:

If you’ve ever doubted why people write articles, think again. The internet favors the bold, the ones who are not afraid to speak their mind and put their thoughts in digital format get rewarded. More and more authors who have written actual books are now writing for the internet to get more sales for their books. It’s a proven fact that unique content is king and so are your thoughts.

Today a multilingual website is becoming a necessity for international business due to a number of convincing reasons. Website translation can be a great help in attracting foreign public to your business. However it has to be done in such a way that people will end up buying your product.

Today every self-respecting company understands the advantages and power of the internet and runs one or several web sites advertising its products or services online. We all want to be recognized worldwide and invest a lion’s share of our budget in off line international marketing. At the same time we often forget about the advantages of international internet marketing. All that we can think of is creating another .com website in English, adding the word ?international? to its title. Why do we forget that one third of all internet users do not speak English, and thus our ?international? site is passing by all this mass of potential clients (business partners)? With constantly growing quantity and quality of non-English material on the Net they are more likely to surf in their own language. Today a multilingual website is becoming a necessity for international business due to a number of convincing reasons:

SEO Marketing.

Multilingual web sites allow you to enter new markets. Local language search engines will index your site and give you new links from within this market area. In most non-English speaking countries, regional search engines in their native language play much greater role than English-speaking Google, Yahoo and MSN. Hence, you gain better positions, more new visitors to your site (i.e. more potential customers) and more sales.

Company Image.

Multilingual sites create an image of a serious and respectable international business, and will win over visitors from companies who have not made this effort.

Customer-centric approach.

It allows your visitors to surf quickly and efficiently in their own language. This gives your company and products an advantage over your less prepared competitors.

Now you clearly understand that website translation can be a great help in attracting foreign public to your business. However it has to be done in such a way that people will end up buying your product.

To have a website translated means much more than get mere text translation. There are numerous factors that have to be taken into consideration. Actually, it is more correctly to speak about website localization, when you want the site successfully working in the market of your target countries.

Localization is defined as modifying a product to make it usable and suitable to a target market. First of all, it implies culture-centric translation. Perfect culture-centric translation makes the reader feel as if the content was not translated, but originally written in the target language. It takes into consideration the culture, style and language of the target audience. Using electronic translations for this purpose is not a good idea. The decision to have your site translated by a human being, preferably a native speaker, familiar with the culture, terminology and sayings of the target language, is an ideal one. Then, website localization takes into account the appearance of your web pages. Are there pictures, colors or images that would cause offense? A good website translation company will analyze your site and offer you a cultural applicability consultation. Further more, decent website translators will offer an after-care service that assists in helping you with the small changes in future. Some translation companies will even provide you with internet marketing services to help your site achieve high visibility in the target country. If you are serious about promoting your business among foreign internet users it is best to trust your website translation to proven professionals. The leading UK translation company, Lingo24 can supply your company with these services.

Professional website localization and culture-centric translation can become a very promising perspective for your business.

Website promotion can make or mar your entry in e-business. Key factors in promoting a website are page title, meta, linking strategies and choosing the best search engine for submission of your website.

Your website is now ready. It’s now the time to promote your website and spread awareness about your website and get visitors to come and view your web pages. Tips to get your website get going.

1. Page Title

Write a descriptive title for each page of 5 to 8 words. Remove as many “filler” words from the title, such as “the,” “and,” etc. Mention appropriate keywords relevant to your website content. Remember search engines give this a lot of emphasis.

2. Meta Tags

Meta tags always go in the section of the document. META NAME tags include descriptions and keywords. This HTML code helps some search engines classify and rank a web page. META HTTP-EQUIV tags can indicate to the web browser how to display the page.

Write a descriptive META Tags. Many search engines include this description below your hyperlinked title. This sentence should describe the contents of the body text of the webpage, using the main keywords and key phrases used on this page. If you include keywords that aren’t used on the webpage content you could hurt the prospect of being listed in the search engine.

3. Linking Strategy

Link popularity is basically the number of links that point to your web site. Besides the optimization of your web pages for meta tags and search engine marketing and readiness, link popularity is considered as being a major factor for your ranking in the search engines. A large number of links that point to your web site will therefore improve your ranking significantly. Besides that, well placed links are an excellent source of consistent traffic to your web site.

Some of the important search Engines that consider link popularity as a factor for relevancy are Google, Excite, Lycos, Webcrawler & Altavista.

Linking strategies are an essential type of site promotion. The more links pointing to your site, the more traffic you’ll experience (and the greater perceived “popularity” will rank you higher in the search engines). To get someone to link to your site, you need to ask. The simplest way is to find complementary sites, link to them on a linking page, and ask them to link to you. The key, of course, is for your site to have content that so good that it’s worth linking to. Ask for links on sites that cover your industry, as well as from associations your business belongs to.

What is to be avoided here is link harvesting or just creating link database on your website of sites that have no relevance to your topic. Search engines have a negative rating for this.

4. Search Engine Submission

Now it’s time to submit your website to search engines. It is recommended never use automated tools, your website might end up never being spidered by the search engine. The best way is to manually goto the major search engines listed below and manually submit.

Google.com and Yahoo.com - A definite must. Over 90% of smaller search engines take their fodder from here.

Others to submit are Lycos.com, Altavista.com, Excite.com, Askjeeves.com, Wisenut.com, Toema.com & Overture.com

5. Viral Marketing

Viral marketing describes any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the message’s exposure and influence. Like viruses, such strategies take advantage of rapid multiplication to explode the message to thousands, to millions.

1

11

1111

11111111

1111111111111111

1111111111111111111111111111111

1111111111111111111111111111111

Amongst the best forms of viral marketing are

Affiliate Programs

You signup and earn a commission per sale or referral. So you refer your friends and peers. When your peers signup their friends and peers you get an incentive for them too. What an excellent and automated way of publicity at extremely low costs.

Refer your friends

You just finished reading an article and suddenly remembered your friend for whom the article might be a valuable resource, so you simply email the article to them by using the “Refer-a-friend” link. An excellent and automated way of free publicity.

E-mail signature

Don’t underestimate the power of a innocuous email signature. You never know who and where it reaches. It doesn’t cost you a dime and gives your website free publicity.

6. Ezines

Write articles for others to use in their Newsletters. You can dramatically increase your visibility when you write articles in your area of expertise and distribute them to editors as free content for their e-mail newsletters. Just ask that a link to your website and a one-line description of what you offer be included with the article. This is an effective “viral” approach that can produce hundreds of links to your site over time.

7. URL on Stationery

This is a no-brainer that’s sometimes overlooked. Make sure that all reprints of cards, stationery, brochures, and literature contain your company’s URL.

Beware of these promotion blunders

1. Spam

Spam or unsolicited e-mails don’t generate customers. They generate bad publicity and legal tangles. No website has ever made it big with Spam. Spam is like the scum in the gutter blocking precious Internet bandwidth, which brings absolutely nothing but abuses for their senders.

2. Abuse e-communities

While the former one is mass abuse, this one is direct abuse. Ecommunities are available on the Internet on probably every topic under the sun and e-marketers feel it’s a good place to deliver the promotional message. Right no doubt, but there is a Net etiquette for delivering such a message. Maybe in the form of a signature or participating in that community not sending stupid promotional messages which get nothing but bad publicity for the website.

3. Automated submission

Unless you want your Website to be blacklisted or removed from the database of the search engines don’t ever attempt it. Incidentally, the best and the biggest directory is human edited. Dmoz.org is the name; the same directory used by google.com, aol.com and other search engines. Manual submission to major search engines takes not more than a few hours and is fairly sufficient for meeting your e-business goals.

Unless you’re a seasoned writer, then writing your press release might be your hardest task. If your budget allows, you can always pay some expert to write it for you. Depending on your sites content, product or services, will determine how hard it will be to find something newsworthy to write about. The better the news value, the more chance your press release has of being published.

Unless you’re business is of great importance or you have a one of a kind website that everyone wants to know about, then a new website launch is not ground breaking news to the rest of the world. The mere fact that a website is open for business happens every minute as you read. You need to tell the right story. A story with a great ‘angle’. Your targeted publication must find it interesting and newsworthy.

Your press release must not become your sales literature. It is used to tell the whole world about your ground breaking news. To tell readers about an event that has or will happen. Having great news to tell is one part, writing it properly and in a certain way or format, is the other.

Press release tips:

Your press release should not sound like a sales pitch or ad. It must sound like news;

It should only be submitted to the media that is similar to the topic of your press release;

Try to wrap your press release around the current news events if possible;

Try to keep your press release to a maximum of one page in length;

Use short paragraphs and double space between them;

The headline, contact info and release date should be found at the top of the press release;

The headline and first paragraph should catch the reader’s attention. It should entice them to read more;

Check and triple check your press release for errors before submitting;

The press release should be presented from a third-person view, not a personal voice;

Provide references to any statistics and facts, not general opinion.

Newsworthy press release ideas:

Revolutionary new product launch on your website;

Online seminar or course you’re hosting;

A strange or funny story how your business started;

Announce your major sponsorship or contest giveaway;

Online survey results and statistics presented in the form of a press release;

Announce the recruitment of your new CIO;

A major joint venture with another company;

A new book being released on your website;

A fundraising event on your website.

Learn by reading other businesses press releases, especially from press releases that obtain huge exposure. See how they do it and what they do best.

Your headline and opening paragraph should contain some of your best work. It needs to grab the reader’s attention quickly. Usually this will determine the success of your press release as to whether it is discovered or not.

When writing your press release, make sure you begin with the date and city in the body then continue by reporting on the facts. It is always good to supply the answers to the common questions like the Who, Where, Why, What, When and How. If you don’t have the answers, you should make the effort to find them. These should be answered in the first paragraph.

It is good practice to include quotes in your press release. It increases the chance of your press release being used and picked up by a journalist. It adds credibility and human interest to a media release. The second paragraph is the best place for these.

Make things easy incase you need to be contacted for further information or clarification. Do not forget to include your contact information or your work of art might never see the media lights.

Your press release should end with a call to action. What is it exactly that you want your readers to do after reading your masterpiece?

With the free submit, Yahoo allows you to submit your home page, or an RSS feed. Do we need to submit both?

The format for the site submission has changed in the free Yahoo web submissions http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request . At first it allowed you to submit your site to it using the free submission form. This was normally the home page, and you would hope that their spider would crawl the rest of your website from there. Some webmasters have found this inadequate and have submitted other pages that Yahoo failed to notice otherwise.

More recently Yahoo allowed you to put in a text document with a list of URL’s to simplify the submission process.

A few weeks ago I noticed that Yahoo also allows RSS feeds of your website, Atom feeds, or a text listing of urls in this submission form. What does this mean? What will Yahoo do with the links in the RSS feed?

The text list of URL’s was obviously an effort to simplify the process for Yahoo to find all the pages in a website, as their documentation describes. But the RSS? Will they just add this to their database of RSS feeds for RSS searches, or will they follow the links with their spider to evaluate all the pages listed?

I have been working with Google Sitemaps since they came out. (Google uses their XML-formatted Google Sitemaps to help discover all the pages in a website, as well as to evaluate what pages have changed recently.) I am wondering if this is Yahoo’s response to the Google Site Maps. Does anyone know?

If I was them, then I would use RSS feeds to evaluate changes in the website. This has more information than the list of URL’s, since it also has descriptions and date changed. They have all the right information. If this is the case, it would be advisable for webmasters to have a RSS feed for their whole site to submit. That way Yahoo could just check the feed and know what pages to re-crawl, or what pages have been added.

It could be just as possible that this is just a field for us to submit RSS feeds, in addition to the other pages in your website. If this is the case, then we may need to submit both the feed and the home page of the website.

For myself, unless I find out differently, I am going to submit both. I intend on having a Google Sitemap and a RSS feed on all my future websites. I think it is safest to help out the search engines in any way possible. If they want information on what files have changed, I want to be proactive in giving it to them.

In addition, for those who have the coding expertise, it is advisable to automate pinging Yahoo when your RSS feed changes. This is a standard blogging technique.

If you use movable type, the following article will help you configure your Yahoo to be automatically notified of a change in your RSS feed: http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/001490.html . There is an alternate way, for those who dont use movable type or standard blogs. Lets say you want Yahoo to know about the RSS feed for http://www.yourwebsiteurl.com and have the RSS file, myRss.xml. You could automate (or even use a web shortcut) to make the following HTTP request: http://api.my.yahoo.com/rss/ping?u=http://www.yourwebsiteurl.com/myRss.xml
